The Hess Collection Winery was founded by Donald Hess over a quarter century ago. True to his vision of what a New World wine should be, Mr. Hess established his winery on the volcanic slopes of Mount Veeder in the Napa Valley and defined a whole new approach to winemaking.

Su’skol Vineyard’s close proximity to the San Francisco Bay, with its marine influences of morning fog and afternoon breezes, creates an ideal climate for growing Chardonnay. The 175-acre vineyard is planted exclusively to Chardonnay with nine unique clones, giving winemaker a veritable spice rack to choose from to add complexity to the wine.

The vineyard is located on an ancient sea bed with sandy clay and sandstone soils that yield small berries with intense fruit and citrus flavors and vibrant acidity.

Tasting notes:
Flavors of lemon and orange zest mix on the palate with ripe tropical fruit flavors of pineapple and apricot, balanced by a hint of vanilla French Oak. This medium-bodied wine is floral and aromatic with refreshing acidity on the finish
