Señorío de San Vicente, a single vineyard, represents the dream of the Eguren family. It is a long-term project which started with the planting of the vineyard in the early 80s, and finished with the building of the winery stone-by-stone. The winery is directed by Miguel Angel Eguren.
Eguren family is the first winery in history to bottle this clone of Tempranillo by itself, and probably the first winery in Rioja to use the concept of high density planting. The high quality of this charming wine is a result of careful hand harvesting of just perfectly mature clusters, and an additional selection made in the winery on sorting table.

This single-vineyard estate-bottled Rioja has been a consistent winner in recent vintages. 2002, even though considered “weak” vintage in Rioja, performed incredibly well. Aged 20 months in primarily French oak, and bottled unfiltered, it is Spain’s version of a top Bordeaux.
It boasts a deep ruby/purple color as well as an expressive bouquet of crushed red and black fruits, cedar, spice box, licorice, and smoked herbs. With great fruit, an opulent, full-bodied palate, tremendous purity as well as length, and abundant fruit and glycerin nearly concealing the moderate tannin, it should drink well for 8-10 years.
Fairly deep ruby color. Sweet, sexy, spicy, and cherry-blackberry aroma reminds me of the time I entered Eguren’s cellars in Marcos family house in Rioja for the first time. I felt like “I am home!” This wine offers lovely scents of new oak, chocolate, licorice and rich black cherry fruit. Rich yet delicate, full of generous ripe flavors on the palate.
Simply delicious. Silky tannins, modern style, very straightforward in its approach. This fine red doesn’t overpower but has plenty of character. Decant, definitely, it will reward you for your patience. Señorío San Vicente is my secret Spanish passionate love.
